We had a wonderful experience with Siwen as our summer Chinese tutor! Both of my daughters (ages 12 and 10) really enjoyed their lessons. They not only learned new characters and meanings but also got valuable practice with things they should already know. The sessions were engaging, interactive, and most importantly—fun. Patient, kind, encouraging, and fun
She taught my son 1-10 in mandarin both writing and speaking... She then associated it with live items like my son jumping and counting pens. my son also got comfortable enough with her to do show-and-tell and so he learned "lego" and "monster truck". I appreciated the words she also inserted throughout the lesson that would prompt him in his lessons... making it a LOT of mandarin for the lesson that he will eventually pick up without even knowing it I also appreciated the full hour! Even with the 5 minute break, it was later added toward the end of the lesson.. Thank you, siwen!

Great Chinese tutor for beginners students (and advanced ones!)
I started taking lessons with Siwen about a month ago and so far it's been a great experience! She's very patient and makes the effort to speak to me in Mandarin about 95% of the time, even if she has to repeat everything many times. She shares materials with me in advance that help me prepare for the class. She also knows to strike the right balance between correcting my pronunciation and letting me make progress and learn new words. She does a great job of pointing where Chinese language structure differs from English and you have to pay extra attention to in order to not make silly mistakes. My wife is Chinese America and has conversational Chinese skills. She's working with Siwen too and has had great results already. Therefore, I would recommend Siwen to anyone that wants to learn Mandarin Chinese, either as a complete beginner like me or as a more advanced student like my wife. Xiexie, Siwen laoshi!

Helpful and attentive to where I need to improve
It was a nice, to the point lesson. We focused on the speaking aspect of the language (which I requested) and she paid attention to which words I didn't know, and near the end of the lesson encouraged me to use them in a sentence for practice.
