The University of St. Thomas (Math Econ)
The University of Minnesota (Master's)
I graduated from the University of St. Thomas in May 2010 with a B.S. degree in Mathematical Economics and a B.S. in Statistics. In the fall of 2010, I began pursuing a Master's degree in Financial Mathematics at the University of Minnesota. My tutoring background started in high school when I provided tutoring services for trigonometry and analytical geometry students. While attending the University of St. Thomas, I was a statistics tutor for my junior and senior years. I can provide assistance for students who would like help with ACT/SAT math prep, all high school level math courses and the Quantitative section on the GRE.
Tutor tip: Be proactive, if you think you are going to have a difficult time with a course, feel free to email me and set up a free appointment to see how tutoring can help you achieve the success you are looking for. It is easier to start the class on the right foot, instead of playing catch up. Good luck with all your studies!

I had a great experience with Mark. I was utterly helpless without a tutor, and it's no easy task teaching me any math subject. He was very flexible, patient, and assertive. He didn't let me make excuses to quit, which I tend to do when it comes to math. Mark's easy to contact, and always on time, and ready to dive into your work, no matter how painful it is. He doesn't do the work for you, but works with you to master the material so you are prepared for exams. With Mark's assistance, I was able to pass a class I was destined to fail. I highly recommend Mark as a tutor for any of his preferred subjects.
My son was very happy with Mark and he understood everything. We will continue with Mark for AP Statistics and probably for AP Calculus too.
Mark was wonderful. He helped me get ready for an intermediate algebra final. Mark was able to relate the material in a way that I could easily understand. He was easy to reach by e-mail or phone and responded quickly. He was always on time for our lessons. A very nice young man! Will use him again if I need to or have him help my children when they need it. Well worth the money! Good investment.
Mark has been a great math tutor for our son, who is currently getting an A in math. He has developed a great rapport with our kid, and the two of them enjoy chatting before and after each tutoring session.
Mark is very good at explaining the key math concepts. As the concepts become more abstract and complex, he finds ways to walk through the problems step by step. Even more importantly, Mark is adept at understanding what is difficult for our son and finding ways to address it directly, or indirectly.
The entire tutoring experience is very pleasant and our son looks forward to his weekly math tutoring sessions.
I was fortunate enough to be paired up with Mark from WyzAnt tutoring. We met on several occasions throughout the second half of my fall semester. Mark's high level knowledge was of tremendous value to me in better understanding Data Analysis and Statistics. Bravo & Thanks to Mark!
Mark is very patient. He reviews prior material and makes sure you understand what you are doing. I would highly recommend Mark. It's worth the money.
Mark connects well with my son, is pleasant to talk to, flexible about scheduling, and has helped my son raise his math grade. Glad we found him!
Mark was the best tutor we have come across! Very patient, great at breaking down difficult to comprehend material and making it easier for the student to understand. We give Mark the highest rating possible!
The tutor was very good and exceeded my expectations. I've always struggled with math and he really helped me understand the concepts. I was able to get an A in the course and without his help I may not have been able to achieve that. Mark thank you very much for everything you did and for believing that I could do it.
I have found Mark to be an exceptional tutor. He is so patient, and has an amazing ability to break down the complexities of Statistics. I would recommend Mark without any reservation. He has made the difference of me dreading statistics to actually enjoying it.
My son needed help in understanding some of the more complicated concepts from his high school AP Statistics class. He was having a hard time understanding the classroom teacher's instructions, and the text book was nearly incomprehensible for someone without a statistics background. Mark was able to figure out the gliches in his thinking, and put things into terms that resonated with my son. After the first two sessions, he was back on track getting A's on his course tests - which demonstrated that he was comprehending the information. Mark was also very flexible and worked around our busy schedule, and made himself available on short notice. Thanks Mark!
Noelle's usual tutor is never available if we need help on notice shorter than a week. Mark was able to come the very next day and was a big help to my daughter on the test she took the next day! Thanks Mark.
Mark explained strategies and equations in simpler terms that my statistic book didn't provide. Things that were complicated and hard to understand, he made appear easy and comprehensible. Some things in the book were incomprehensible due to the book's strange way of explaining things and making methods more complicated than they actually are. Mark elaborates on the formulas and explains strict rules such as decimal places. He provides simpler definitions without making the explanation too wordy; something the book couldn't avoid. I highly recommend him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I majored in statistics in college and have tutored other students with their bio-statistics course. Biostatistics is looking at biological questions through a statistical lens. If you need help with your course, feel free to reach out to me!
My Master's program in Financial Mathematics, is based in stochastic calculus and differential equations. I have taken Diff EQs at the undergraduate level and have reviewed them periodically with my course material.
I have taken a handful of Matlab courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. I am comfortable tutoring with the fundamentals of functional programming. In addition, I can explain scripts and how to read the code for Matlab.
Throughout my undergraduate and graduate studies, I have taken many computer programming classes. I have taken courses in C++, C#, Matlab, Visual Basic and SAS. I feel more than confident in my ability to help with entry level programming classes.
