I am a recent graduate of UC Berkeley, where I completed extensive coursework in the pre-medical sciences, including biology, biochemistry, physiology, and public health, alongside studies in the humanities—receiving two B.A. degrees in Public Health and South and Southeast Asian Studies. My academic background includes both introductory and advanced university-level science courses, providing me with a strong foundation for tutoring biology, biochemistry, and related subjects.
I have direct teaching experience as an undergraduate teaching intern for a general biology laboratory course. I worked with college students in the laboratory setting, answering questions, explaining biological concepts and experimental methods, and helping students work through challenging material. Additionally, for three semesters, I led a course teaching college students about the importance of daily exercise, mindfulness, and nutrition for overall well-being.
My tutoring approach focuses on building genuine understanding rather than relying solely on memorization. I start by identifying what a student already understands and where they are getting stuck, then break difficult topics into smaller, more intuitive pieces. Sessions may include content review, guided practice problems, analysis of mistakes, study strategies, and helpful mnemonics. My goal is to create an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions while developing confidence and independence in the material.
