Hi, I’m Ziane! I hold a PhD in physics and the French agrégation in physics, a highly selective national certification for teaching at the high school and university level. Over the past 15 years, I have taught and tutored students in physics, math, chemistry, and biology across several countries and in both English and French. My teaching experience includes one-on-one tutoring, small group sessions, and full classroom instruction. In the U.S., I taught introductory physics courses at the University of Minnesota, and I have also guided students in advanced scientific research projects.

I work with students at many levels, from high school algebra, biology, chemistry and physics, to graduate-level physics and engineering. My approach combines clear structure with active engagement: I prepare a solid lesson plan, but I keep students involved by asking questions, inviting them to explain their reasoning, and challenging their understanding. Lessons become a real dialogue rather than a one-way lecture. My students consistently praise my ability to break down complex ideas into simple, accessible steps and to adapt my explanations to their level of understanding.

Having taught in diverse settings and in two languages, I am skilled at adjusting to different learning styles and helping both native and non-native English speakers succeed. I believe that the beauty of science, and physics in particular, should be shared—especially with students who are still building their understanding of the forces that shape our world.

I enjoy helping students grow in both skills and confidence. I welcome any resources or suggestions from students or parents, and I always provide clear and prompt communication. Feel free to reach out—I respond quickly—and we can plan your learning journey together.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

I have taught a labs, discussion sessions, and lectures on the fundamentals of electricity and electrical engineering for first-year science and engineering students at the University of Minnesota. My teaching covered core topics such as circuits, Ohm’s law, inductors and capacitor, and electromagnetism, with an emphasis on practical problem-solving and clear conceptual understanding. I have guided students through hands-on experiments as well as theoretical exercises, helping them bridge the gap between equations and real-world applications. My experience allows me to adapt explanations to different learning levels and to make challenging engineering concepts accessible and engaging.
French

French

I am a native French speaker who has spent many years living abroad, so I understand both the challenges and the joys of learning a new language. My teaching experience has shown me how to break down complex ideas into clear, approachable steps, and I love bringing that same clarity to French tutoring. I enjoy working with learners of all ages, from high school to graduate students and adults, and I always adapt lessons to fit each person’s goals and style. Whether you’d like to practice conversation, strengthen your grammar, or explore cultural aspects of French, I will make our sessions engaging, supportive, and tailored to you.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I have taught labs and discussion sessions on the fundamentals of mechanical engineering to first-year science and engineering students at the University of Minnesota. My approach emphasizes both conceptual understanding and practical problem-solving, helping students explore motion, forces—including friction and gravitational forces—energy, and momentum, as well as rotational dynamics such as torque and angular momentum, through engaging examples and hands-on exercises. I guide students in connecting mathematical models to real-world phenomena, showing how abstract principles describe tangible motion. This experience enables me to tailor explanations to each student’s level and make challenging mechanics concepts accessible and engaging.
Quantum Physics

Quantum Physics

I have designed and taught the third-semester introductory physics course at the University of Minnesota, which covered modern physics and the foundations of quantum mechanics. The course introduced students to key concepts such as the Schrödinger equation and the properties of electrons bound to atoms, with a focus on building a clear conceptual framework. I emphasized connecting mathematical formalism to physical intuition, helping students navigate the abstract and counterintuitive aspects of quantum mechanics. This experience allows me to guide students through complex topics, tailoring explanations to their level and making challenging quantum concepts more accessible and engaging.
