I am a recent psychology PhD grad, where I researched friendships and gossip! I have extensive expeerience working with undergraduate students, as well as grade school students.
I spent 3 years as a teaching assistant helping undergraduate students develop their capstone essay projects (20+ page literature reviews) and improve their verbal presentation skills. I met with students one-on-one regularly throughout the academic year to help them develop their essays. These meetings were some of the most rewarding parts of grad school for me, because it was amazing to watch how much students grow in a year! I love talking to students about how to get their ideas across more clearly in their writing!
In addition to doing a lot of statistics in my own research, I also spent a year assisting with third year undergraduate statistics. This included teaching a weekly lab showing how to use statistical software (R and SPSS) and giving feedback on homework problems. Statistics and learning new software can be daunting, but I loved helping students gain the confidence to tackle these concepts!
Lastly, I did 1.5 years of online tutoring helping elementary and middle school students improve reading and math skills post COVID, to help get them up to grade level. Sometimes students just need a bit of extra one-on-one attention to help get them excited about these subjects. I really enjoyed being able to provide that environment for younger learners!
