Hi! My name is Asher, and for 7 years, I've been working to help students find success and confidence through math tutoring and teaching. I believe the keys to success in math are consistent practice, a positive mindset, and regular engagement with the logic underlying mathematical problem-solving. Through my tutoring, I help my students build self-sufficiency through these three practices so they can develop the skills they need to become lifelong learners.

I grew up getting good grades in math, but lacking passion about the subject; all that changed my sophomore year of high school, when I had an incredible math teacher who showed me the beauty and logic behind math. Throughout that year, I learned how each concept in math made sense, and saw the beauty in the way that different concepts fit together logically, as if putting together a puzzle. I strive to cultivate that same engagement in every student I teach.
In my tutoring career, I bring 7 years of experience working with people of all ages on a variety of mathematical topics. While my primary focus lies in middle/high school math, I have worked with students aged 5-45, and have taught content ranging from kindergarten math to differential equations. I also bring professional experience to my role as a tutor. I did my student teaching at Como Park Senior High School, during which I taught Algebra 2 and Accelerated Precalculus. Following that, I received my BA from St. Olaf College in Math & Education, along with my Minnesota state license to teach secondary math. Over the past year, I have taught middle school math at Sojourner Truth Academy in north Minneapolis, teaching 6th-8th grade math to 150 students from a wide variety of backgrounds and communities.
I would love to connect with you or your child and see how we can work together to help them succeed. Send me a message and we can get started on that journey!
