Good news everyone! I am here to help you achieve your goals in the STEM field. I know this process can be stressful, so please allow me, Amir, to reduce your workload and mental strain.
A pre-medical student, I earned my B.S. in Biology from Brandeis University in early 2024, with a Minor in History. While an undergrad, I worked as a research assistant in a neurobiology lab-- the Van Hooser lab-- studying the role of the SHANKS3 gene in mice and its effect on their visual search. I also completed undergraduate independent research on parasite prevalence in vervet monkeys in Tanzania.
I took courses such as Genetics and Genomics, Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, Advanced Cellular Biology, Biostatistics, Advanced Molecular Biology, Organic Chemistry (in which I was among the top in my class), General Chemistry and many more. While in High School, I scored a 5 on the AP Environmental Science test and placed in the 99th percentile in my SAT.
I have experience teaching my peers, especially in the final portion of my undergraduate career, as half of the classes were graduate level courses and seminars, which required much more collaborative learning. Most of the classes my friends and I did well in was because of our study sessions, so I will work hard to transmit that same atmosphere to our lessons! Outside of school, I was also a professional martial arts teacher for 4 years, so I have lots of little tricks to empower my students with confidence before stressful situations and test!
Although on rare occasions I will give you the answers, more often I will attempt to guide you to them, and will be patient and cheerful in our journey there. Together, we will use a multitude of study skills, techniques and sometimes even games to achieve high scores. Whether it be getting ready for AP Biology, the SAT, a tough Orgo quiz, learning the Krebs cycle or getting ready for the MCAT, I am here for you!
