Hi! I've always enjoyed the aspect of helping students with tough courses such as STEM courses because I know how daunting the whole process can be. Here's a little background about me: I graduated from St. Olaf College with honors and majored in Biology. I have experience tutoring chemistry at the high school and college level. During my time as a chemistry tutor, I would review concepts and go over practice problems with students. Due to the pandemic, I've had experience tutoring both online and in-person. In addition to tutoring chemistry, I have tutored elementary students for math and reading for about 2 years through another online tutoring platform. Some of the STEM courses in undergrad I’ve taken include: general chemistry l&ll, organic chemistry l&ll, physics l&ll, biochemistry l, genetics, cell biology, calculus l, ecology, and more. This includes lab as well. In terms of tutoring methods, I value patience, compassion, and effective communication. I prioritize adjusting my lessons around the student's specific needs and learning style. Overall, I aim to simplify concepts and work towards making students feel more confident in the particular subject. In the past, I find that going over several example problems/practice problems and breaking it down step-by-step helps students. I also value making each lesson as interactive/engaging as possible. Over the years, I've compiled a lot of study material, notes, etc. that can also be of good use during the sessions.
