I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a B.S. in Spanish Education and a B.S. in Teaching English as a Second Language/Foreign Language in 2018. I have taught high school Spanish, tutored Spanish for my university, and taught English and Spanish to adults online. I have eight years of teaching experience, and I'm currently considering a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics.
I have two boys to whom I exclusively speak Spanish. My oldest is completely bilingual in English and Spanish, and it has been one of my greatest joys to be able to give him that gift. My youngest is just starting to talk and it's very exciting!
I like to use an eclectic approach in my lessons. I utilize a variety of language instruction methods and techniques based on your learning style and interests. These may include stories, comprehensible input, conversation, role play, vocabulary games, and more. Above all, I believe creating a safe space for you to practice the language in combination with my comprehensive feedback is the key to my students' success.
In a typical lesson, we'll use a shared Google Doc as a work space and a place for my feedback and notes. You might have a small homework assignment for either speaking, listening, writing, or reading practice, depending on your specific goals. We'll spend a few moments catching up (as much in the target language as you feel comfortable), move on to a predetermined conversation topic, and at the end, we'll discuss feedback and grammar (if grammar interests you!).
My lessons are designed for high school students, university students, or adults.
