I was a semester shy of a degree in psychology when I decided to homeschool my sons (I homeschooled for 16 years). My sons graduated with commendable GPAs & ACT scores, the oldest is a construction supervisor in FL and my youngest is a pilot and completing his AFA Music degree here in MN.

After ‘retiring’ from homeschooling, I returned to college but switched gears from psychology to pursue my love of writing. I graduated from MN State College Southeast’s Certificate of Creative program in the fall of 2023. I graduated with my bachelor’s in English with a creative writing emphasis from Southwest Minnesota State University in December 2025.

While at Southeast I tutored students in English, writing, and general academic support. I recently completed a long-term substitute teaching position for 8th grade LA at a private middle school. I am an assistant editor for Perceptions, SMSU's university literary publication. I have a number of poems published and I have edited entries for multiple contests for elementary through high school students (poetry, fiction, & non-fiction entries). I designed and facilitate creative writing workshops for inmates in the county jail.

I work part-time for a youth mentoring agency & am a certified firearm safety instructor. I’m passionate about & committed to helping kids, youth, and adults reach their full writing potential. I was a tough grader with high expectations in our homeschool. I believe in encouraging kids to set their bar high and do so with compassion, patience, & a little humor.

I’m available for a free [online] consultation (up to 15 min). My fee is $32 per hr. online, $40 per hr. in person if w/in a 35 mi radius of my location (unless student comes to me, then the $32 per hr. fee applies). Half price fee is charged for cancellations made less than four hours in advance (exceptions can apply & are determined on an individual basis).
