Experienced Math Tutor with Graduate-Level Background

Hi, I am Jacob! I have recently graduated with my master's in Applied Math and Data Science, and I graduated with my undergrad in Applied Math and Computer Science two years ago. During my college career, I maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA, while also being involved in clubs, varsity athletics, and coaching. My knowledge for math, computer science, and data science is vast, as I had to learn multiple programming languages with the CS courses, but also get through the very challenging high-level math courses. This combination of courses has given me the opportunity to share my knowledge with others, through tutoring, and I am excited to share that knowledge with you!

Although I do not have any formal teaching experience, I have been tutoring others since high school. I used to work in a tutor lab where students could come in whenever they would like and get some math help from me. Then, in college, I worked with families in the community to tutor high school students in my free time, while also tutoring many of my teammates who were struggling in the math classes that I loved. I have mostly worked in the 1 on 1 space of tutoring, with some occasional group tutoring of a few students. I prefer smaller groups because it allows for more questions and more direct help without getting distracted by others. Along with this, I did have to present lectures in my Partial Differential Equations graduate course, where every other week, I would lecture on a topic and go over an example problem or two. I greatly appreciated that experience because it was different than my usual tutoring, but it was a fun challenge to teach a high-level course and make sure the other students were learning it like I was.
