Hey, I'm Sam! I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a double major in Spanish Studies and Political Science before getting my Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language, as well as an undergraduate degree in Spanish Education, from St. Cloud State University. During college, I worked as a tutor for Minnesota Math Corps, tutored adult ESL learners, and worked and volunteered in two after-school Spanish programs: one for Spanish-speaking youth, and another for those trying to learn it. While in my master's program, I also taught credit-bearing college ESL courses. After graduating, I worked for four years as a high school ESL teacher before transitioning into instructional coaching and then becoming an Assistant Principal and Principal.
Having worked extensively in schools and having personally taught hundreds of students from Kindergarten through college, as well as coaching and mentoring dozens of teachers, I am experienced at anticipating, identifying, and solving learning challenges that students might have.
