I'm Katie! I graduated with highest honors from Vanderbilt University with my BA in Spanish and Portuguese and a minor in Italian. I have my TESOL certification and have tutored language students of all ages (elementary, middle, and high school as well as university-level students) for twelve years. I believe that students' experience with a content area and the course material is strongly dependent upon the instructor infusing the lessons with energy, passion, and relatability. Therefore, I strive to make the content pertinent to each individual student's life and interests while providing constructive feedback on language use and accuracy.

My wide range of experience in using Romance languages provides me with a strong foundation for applying language to everyday life. Whether a student's interests lie in medical, legal, religious, business, or other facets of language use, I believe that language holds power in its breadth of possibilities for application. I work to create a learning environment that suits each student's individual hobbies, interests, and fields of study so that the content can be easily and frequently applied. Learning should extend far beyond the classroom door!

My understanding and experience with the grammar and vocabulary of a number of foreign languages also enables me to have a more profound grasp of the English language. As the primary language of the business world, English becomes more essential to the global citizen each and every day and empowers its speakers with enhanced opportunities and facets for communication and expression. I love helping students develop their abilities in the English language in order to expand their future career, social, and experiential opportunities.
