I have taught mathematics at the HS level for 28 years. Specialties include Calculus, Statistics, College Algebra, and Trigonometry. I received my Bachelor's degree from Cornell College in 1997 and earned a Masters in 2006 from Walden University. Additionally, I have over 20 credits of Graduate level Math from the University of Minnesota-Moorhead.
I enjoy the challenge of making high-level mathematics more understandable and accessible to all students. Tutoring and 1-on-1 help are great ways to see where misconceptions and misunderstandings are rooted. Once identified, we strengthen those weaknesses and eliminate the frustrations a student may be having.
I have a wide range of interests and experiences which I believe allows me to relate well to my students. In mathematics, one of the biggest barriers to understanding and motivation is relevance. My experience in the sciences, sports, history, and English allows me to find ways to create relevant problems and questions to meet every student in a place where he/she can be successful.
