I received my PhD in chemistry from the University of Minnesota in 2017. As a graduate student, my focus was on polymer chemistry and gene delivery, but one of my favorite parts about graduate school was mentoring undergraduate students and seeing them develop their skills in lab and in class. Once I completed my PhD, worked as an NIH postdoctoral fellow in a dentistry lab, focused on mRNA delivery for the treatment of oral cancer and gum disease. When I completed my postdoc in 2021, I began teaching chemistry full time at a college in Minnesota where I've been ever since.

Most of my teaching and tutoring experience has been with college or high school students. I find tutoring to be really rewarding because it allows me to tailor my instruction to exactly what the student needs. In addition to breaking down material and explaining individual concepts to students, I try to work with students to build their study skills so that they can become more effective independent learners as well. I am responsive to students needs, and your feedback will dictate my approach as we work to improve your skills. My hope is that students who work with me develop long-lasting skills that they will use in chemistry and in other classes as well.

During our first meeting, we'll discuss your goals for tutoring. I'll learn more about your learning style and the study strategies that have helped you the most, and we'll make sure that I'm a good fit to help you reach your goals. We'll talk about any concerns you have about learning chemistry and we'll discuss how you can overcome them. Finally, we'll work on one or two specific topics to get you going. Since the first meeting will mostly be informational, I offer a 50% rate for the first session.

ACT Science

ACT Science

I have been teaching chemistry at the college level since 2011. I also have extensive experience with standardized tests! I'll help you learn the content you need to be successful, and strategies for maximizing your score on the ACT.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I received my PhD in Chemistry in 2017. My PhD work focused on the use of synthetic polymers in gene delivery which allowed me to develop expertise working at the interface of biology and chemistry. My postdoctoral fellowship was in a dentistry lab where I gained experience in microbiology and gene regulation.
Biology

Biology

While I am a chemist by training I have extensive experience working in biology labs. I have first-hand experience with cell biology, cellular trafficking, gene regulation, and microbiology.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I received my PhD in chemistry in 2017, and I've been teaching a different levels since 2011. My research focused on polymer synthesis (organic chemistry), and I primarily teach general chemistry courses now.
GRE

GRE

I have been teaching chemistry at the college level since 2011. I also have extensive experience with standardized tests! I'll help you learn the content you need to be successful, and strategies for maximizing your score on the GRE.
