I have a Master of Arts in Teaching in Chemistry from Indiana University and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and French from Allegheny College, so I’ve spent a lot of time both learning science and learning how to teach it well. I’ve also worked in several research labs, which helps me explain concepts in a way that connects to real-world examples instead of just sticking to the textbook. That mix of background lets me meet students at their level—whether they’re trying to get through the basics or really dig into more advanced material.

I’ve been teaching and working with students for over a decade in a variety of settings. I’ve taught chemistry at Alexandria Technical and Community College, as well as science classes at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School and Minnewaska Area High School. My experience ranges from high school to college students, in both full classrooms and smaller, more individualized settings. I’ve built courses from the ground up, run labs, and worked with students who needed extra flexibility and support to succeed. That’s helped me get comfortable adjusting my approach depending on the student and what works best for them.

When I tutor, I try to keep things relaxed and approachable. I like breaking tough concepts into smaller, more manageable pieces and using examples or visuals to make things click. I also focus on helping students build confidence and better study habits, not just getting through one assignment. Whether we’re working one-on-one or in a small group, my goal is to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and figuring things out without feeling overwhelmed.
