Optimistic, caring tutor
I began my journey with Janee in May 2024 with the goal of reaching B2 by April 2025 in order to study in Germany. I took classes with her online since I live in Puerto Rico, where no one speaks German; I also want to mention I am 18. Other tutors (who charged double) told me it was an overambitious goal and that it would take at least two years with hard work. I chose Janee because she warned me it would be hard, but definitely possible, and she promised to make it as fun as possible. She was also transparent about the fact that she normally teaches beginner levels. I began taking classes with her four times a week, and she did not disappoint at all. Most classes flew by; they were fun yet serious. In less than a month I could feel the progress. She gave good homework and it showed that she cared about my learning. I must emphasize this: she made it a priority that I understood the material while being patient and understanding. It was noticeable that she went beyond what was expected during the lessons and outside of them. Another thing that stood out was her way of explaining. She didn’t just ask me to memorize. Since German is somewhat of a logical language with rules, she made sure I understood those rules, which significantly boosted my speed in learning the language. In January 2025, I felt confident with my German skills; however, my speaking skills still needed a boost, so I decided to do an Immersive Course in Germany. After that, I stopped taking classes with Janee. Even though she mainly teaches beginner levels, she also managed to give me a strong base in higher levels. When I took the TestDaF, I felt really confident. My scores were enough to study in Germany. Janee was truly a fundamental person in my journey. Her optimism and energy kept me excited about learning German throughout the year. She is very fun but simultaneously serious, someone who cares more about her students’ progress than anything else. Her way of teaching is the reason I was able to study in Germany and understand the language so quickly. I recommend her to anybody and everybody. I also recommend doing her homework and tasks, it doesn’t matter if they seem too beginner or childish.
