My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Vassar College (2008), a JD from Columbia University School of Law (2011), and a master's degree in English Language and Literature from University of Michigan (2019). My expertise is in humanities and social studies — English and American literature, writing, reading, critical thinking, philosophy, US history, and legal topics. I have tutored children at various ages in all areas. I would love to talk about how I could help with your child's education!
I believe in an individualized approach to tutoring and teaching, so I need to spend a little time getting to know your child one-on-one. Learning your child's personality and its quirks and charms help me to best assist. I have a true passion for helping students learn and seeking the spark of recognition, when they realize they can do tasks they first thought were difficult. I also always try to give practical tips students can take with them as they go back into the classroom. I like to teach students to teach themselves as well, because a teacher cannot always be present in their lives. So, an individualized approach, a practical approach, and a self-teaching approach are three of my perspectives as a tutor/teacher.
