Experienced Certified Teacher & Learning Specialist (K–5)
Hello! My name is Tara Spencer, and I am a certified elementary teacher with a Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities. I hold certifications in Emotional Impairments and K–5 Elementary Education, and I have extensive experience working with students who learn in many different ways.
I am trained in Orton-Gillingham reading strategies, the LLI reading program, iReady Math, and Everyday Math. My background allows me to provide structured, research-based instruction that is tailored to each child’s individual strengths and needs.
I specialize in reading intervention, including phonics, fluency, and comprehension, writing support, math foundations, problem-solving, executive functioning skills, and homework help. I have significant experience supporting students with IEPs and 504 plans, as well as children with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and emotional or behavioral challenges.
My teaching style is calm, patient, and encouraging. I work hard to create a supportive environment where children feel safe, capable, and understood. I believe that when students feel confident and supported, they are much more willing to take risks and grow academically. My goal is not only to strengthen skills, but also to help children build independence, resilience, and a positive attitude toward learning.
I offer one-on-one personalized tutoring sessions, available both in person and virtually, with flexible scheduling to meet your family’s needs.
I would love the opportunity to partner with you in supporting your child’s academic growth and confidence.
