As a fourth-year medical student at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, I bring a strong academic foundation and a passion for education and mentorship. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with departmental honors from Wayne State University and have successfully completed and performed well on the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 exams, reflecting my dedication to academic excellence. During my undergraduate years, I worked as a certified College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) tutor at the Academic Success Center (ASC), where I developed a student-centered teaching philosophy that places learners in the “driver’s seat.” This approach empowers students to build independence and confidence as they master challenging material. Additionally, I served as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for General Chemistry, leading group study sessions, attending lectures, and collaborating with instructors to adapt learning strategies for diverse students.

Beyond my academic accomplishments, I have extended my passion for teaching through volunteer tutoring at local churches in my community. In this role, I have worked with students of varying ages, helping them develop skills in subjects ranging from foundational academics to advanced coursework. These experiences have allowed me to give back to my community while continuing to refine my teaching skills and deepen my commitment to mentorship.

What makes me an effective tutor is my ability to adapt to each student’s unique needs and learning style. My experience has taught me the importance of patience and clear communication in breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps. By fostering a positive and supportive environment, I help students build the confidence to tackle challenges independently and succeed in their academic journeys. My combination of academic knowledge, practical teaching experience, and dedication to mentorship ensures I provide high-quality and impactful support to every student I work with.

He’s a great help, if you’re not understanding a topic he will repeat the topic in different words or give examples !! Very helpful!!

Extremely knowledgeable and patient - could not recommend him enough!!

I reached out to Tyler for help with Biochem and he was very helpful. I'm in a Podiatric Medical School and biochem is not a requirement to have before entrance, so I was very lost. My first exam did not go very well as I got less than a 60%. After multiple sessions with Tyler I was able to get an 86% on my final. ALMOST 30% increase!! I am now working with him on Physiology as I am wrapping up my first semester of med school. He has been extremely informative by helping me breakdown and understand my lectures more and even giving me practice problems so that I can hit my exam hard. Tyler has also given me insight on how he goes about exams which helps me because I don't do well with tests. Not only is he informative but he asks thought provoking questions that I can use for myself during exams and if he sees that I am still struggling he changes his approach and finds a different way to explain it. My husband and myself have noticed how much more confidence I have going into exams in just the 2 weeks I have been working with him. I plan to keep using Tyler as long as I possibly can because he is absolutely worth it if you are feeling lost, stressed out and behind. I seriously could not recommend him enough!! I always leave a session feeling extremely better than I did before meeting with him.
