My name is Sandra and I have been teaching/tutoring for 14 years. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Education, a Masters of Arts in Spanish from Arizona State University, and am completing my PhD in Spanish at Wayne State University. I lived in Spain for five years returning to the US in 2014. I currently teach high school. I have taught grades K-12 and at the university level. I love to teach. I think part of my success is my love, knowledge and passion for the Spanish language and culture and my commitment to ensure student success.
My passion, commitment, and experience with the Spanish language makes me an outstanding teacher/tutor. I participated in many study abroad programs, lived in Spain and do everything I can to surround myself with the target language here in Michigan. I use my experience to think of authentic and motivating ways to help my students learn.
I am TEFL certified. During my time in Spain I taught English language, grammar and literature to students in Madrid. While most of my learners wanted to learn the English language as a resume booster, I had several students I needed to prepare for the TOEFL exam.
I also taught grammar and writing at a Montessori school to grades 1-6.
Teaching is who I am. I absolutely love seeing my students succeed and grow. I am committed to my students and providing the best strategies in order for them to grasp and embrace both English and Spanish. I take pride in what I do and am looking forward to meeting you!
