Bio

My name is Faris! I graduated from Troy High School in 2025 and am currently a freshman with almost junior standing at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In high school, I took over 10 AP classes (listed below), achieved an SAT score of 1510 in my sophomore year, and graduated with a 4.25 GPA.

I was the kind of student who kept trying to get a deep and conceptual understanding of whatever subjects I was interested in, especially any math or science. This not only helped me flourish in classes like Calculus BC, where deriving equations became a trick to double-check my memory, but also helped me teach other classmates and friends who were confused. Teaching the fundamental ideas and "whys" of anything I'm interested in is amazing to me; seeing the frustrated stare turn into a shocked "ohhhh!" always makes my heart shine.

This is what I try to do. By listening to your thought processes, I can help fill in any gaps and reinforce them with a more fundamental understanding than what was there originally. From volleyball to physics to all math up to calculus 2, I will answer your questions to create a firmer understanding of the subject and a higher appreciation of its ingenuity. Although I have no official experience in tutoring, I have taught things in this manner my whole life and was known for it – groups of students during school would come to me to ask the questions that they couldn’t understand from the teacher’s explanations. I still have the mind of a student, so I can quickly understand the POV of any other student who tries to understand as I do!

Please feel free to reach out and ask any questions! I would appreciate any resources you have regarding the subject you’d like me to tutor, so I can make a plan to best help you. I offer a free first consultation meeting, so you can see if I’m the right fit, pressure!

Here are the APs: AP Comp Sci Principles, AP Comp Sci A, APUSH, AP Calc BC, AP Lang, Physics C AP, AP Gov, AP Psych, AP Chem, AP Lit, Physics 2 AP, Stats AP.

Common Core

I went to an extremely competitive high school in Michigan, and got extremely acquainted with the specifics of the curriculum and exactly how it works. While ultimately I am unlicensed, I am still a student with a fresh memory of the system and an insider perspective of a student going through it. As I have helped explain subject material in almost every class I took to some degree throughout K-12, I can teach core English and math curricula to an in-depth degree and beyond, as I started taking college classes in my freshman year.
Volleyball

Volleyball

I was a volleyball fanatic and somewhat still am; I started the volleyball club in my high school from scratch, giving many boys a chance to play and become more passionate. I played for another high school's official team, joined a travel team, and played for the volleyball team Troy High created as a result of pressure from the members of my club. In my volleyball club, I spent half of my time training people one-on-one at their exact strengths and weaknesses, allowing for major and noticeable change every single week.
