Hello, I'm Lekhana! I graduated summa cum laude from high school in 2023 and am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences, which has strengthened my analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Although my major is in the life sciences, I continue to enjoy and excel in statistics and calculus, especially when applying mathematical concepts to real-world and scientific contexts. This background allows me to connect math concepts to practical examples, making them more engaging and easier for students to understand.
In the past, I have had experience tutoring SAT Math independently for one year, working primarily with high school students preparing for college entrance exams. I earned a score of 800 on the SAT Math section, which reflects my strong foundation in algebra, problem solving, data analysis, and advanced math concepts tested on the exam. My tutoring experience has been one-on-one, allowing me to tailor sessions to each student’s specific needs, goals, and areas of difficulty. I aim to focus not only on content mastery but also on helping students develop confidence, logical reasoning skills, and effective test-taking strategies.
My teaching approach emphasizes clear explanations, patience, and active student participation. I typically begin by assessing where a student is struggling, then break down concepts step-by-step using multiple methods until the material feels approachable. I encourage students to explain their thinking out loud, practice independently, and reflect on mistakes so they can learn how to approach similar problems in the future. This method helps students become more comfortable tackling unfamiliar questions and managing time effectively during exams. If you have any additional questions or would like to schedule a lesson, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
