Hi! My name is Alex. I graduated from high school in May 2025 and will be studying at the University of Michigan beginning Fall 2025. Some of my academic achievements include receiving an 800 on the Math SAT and 780 on the Reading & Writing SAT as well as the High Honors distinction in the US National Chemistry Olympiad. I am constantly learning or working on something new -- recently, I have received certifications in the Python and R programming languages. In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym and playing the piano.
Previously, I have tutored for the Math SAT on the online Schoolhouse platform, where I helped 20+ students achieve higher scores through group lessons and individualized training. I have taught students of grades 9-12. I believe that students learn best by solving problems instead of only listening to lectures. My tutoring style revolves around making sure that the student has a strong fundamental understanding of underlying concepts before branching out to new topics. My lesson plans consist of brief material review followed by guided problem solving. The student develops the skills necessary to approach complex problems and apply solutions frameworks to many different types of problems in the future, ensuring the student retains the subject knowledge post-exam.
