I am a university mathematics instructor with 7 years of college teaching experience. I have taught a broad variety of math courses, and have also tutored students both online and in person. My approach to tutoring is to guide students as they work through solutions rather than just giving them answers. This allows them to truly grasp the material and master it for themselves. The most satisfying part of my job is watching students reach their "light bulb" moment of understanding!

I have taught university mathematics courses ranging from the first year to senior level. These include math literacy, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Combinatorics, Cryptography, and Abstract Algebra 1 and 2. When teaching, I try to put myself in my student's shoes and help them overcome the challenges of learning the subject for the first time.

  • Rate details: A no-show or cancellation of a scheduled lesson within 12 hrs will incur a fee of one-half the lesson cost. I will wait 20 minutes from the start of a lesson before considering it a no-show.

Calculus was one of my favorite math courses as an undergrad, where I earned high A's in each calc course. I have multiple semesters of university-level teaching experience with both Calc 1 and 2. Having spent countless hours working one-on-one with students, I have a good understanding of the challenges many students face with the concepts. I have been able to help many students overcome these challenges and understand calculus!

My PhD research is in combinatorics (Partition Theory, specifically), which is a branch of discrete math. I have taught a course in combinatorics, as well as a cryptography class which included some introductory number theory.

Knowledgeable and Great Teacher!

I was struggling with learning some foundational concepts about modern cryptography and Tim was able to present the material in a way that helped me understand encryption and decryption schemas much better. He brings about good discussion relevant to the topics that bolsters problem solving and it just really made everything "click"!
