Hi, I'm a snowbird residing in Holiday, Florida from October-April. I have been tutoring for over 25 years and my specialty is elementary through middle school students.
I have an exuberant personality and like to develop a rapport with each kid. Sessions are humorous and I use many games to teach the subjects. I have an exuberant personality and like to develop a rapport with each kid. Sessions are humorous and I use many games to teach the subjects. For instance, I can program kids spelling words into a computer to learn their words. I have dozens of software programs in math, reading, comprehension, spelling, states and capitols and utilize a very energetic, positive delivery. For math, I use dozens of math tricks to show that math is fun!

I utilize a low powered FM broadcast station from my home to entice kids to read and write their own radio programs. We broadcast on 102.1FM and it can be heard for a few miles. I have volunteered for thousands of hours at local schools and participated in tutor/mentoring programs including the Great American Teach In.

Elementary Math

Learning the basics of math is the most important aspect of doing well in the subject. I focus on number theory and math games to kids learn their math facts more quickly. I also use a computer with fun software to make learning more fun.
Reading

Reading

I have SRA's and Barnell-Loft series to enhance comprehension, main idea, context and phonics ablilities. I have special software called a Tachistoscope which teaches proper eye movement and comprehension exercises to the student.
Spelling

Spelling

I program each kids spelling words into a computer and play challenging games based on their words. I also use the software so the student can learn how to spell the days of the week, months and holidays and numbers along with the states and capitols.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I program each kids vocabulary words into a computer and play challenging games based on their words. I also use vocabulary building exerecises out of a book and each of these words are programmed into a computer to reenforce learning through challenging games.
