I have a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan. My Major is Sociology and Social Work. I have over 20 hours of education classes, which allowed me a temporary teaching certificate at the time I graduated. I began teaching in an Alternative High School in Flint, and continued to be employed by Flint Schools until I retired a year ago. I did take off a few years in order to homeschool my own 4 children. All of them were homeschooled for four years. They all went to college and were very prepared for college and for the business world. I also have worked as a home school consultant. During the years I was employed by Flint Schools, I taught, GED classes, basic education classes, parent education classes, Basic Reading, Basic Math, Preschool, and was also a Program Coordinator for a variety of educational programs throughout my career. Many of the years that I taught required home visits, in which the education occurred in the students home rather than in the school building. In addition, I have taught in children's programs in our church for most of my adult life. I am still interested in working with children and being part of their joy as they learn new ideas, concepts, and skills.
I am committed to Jesus Christ, my husband of 39 years, my children and my grandchildren. I am very high energy, and love finding ways to make learning fun!
I spent many years working with at risk teens as well as young children. My best fit for tutoring would be elementary, or teens that are behind academically.
I homeschooled my own children, and I am a former school teacher.
I am easy to get to know and very friendly. But I am also organized and have expectations of my students. I believe that people do the best that they can, and look for ways to bring out the best in everyone.
