I say that with confidence as a veteran educator who has spent 25 years mastering the "gift of helping." Since I was a teenager, teaching has been my calling, and I have been a dedicated advocate for student success in Michigan across public, charter, suburban, and global online tutoring and school systems. I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education with a specialized focus in Autism, alongside Michigan certifications in K-8 classrooms. This journey has given me a sophisticated understanding of how to unlock the potential in every child. I don't just teach curriculum; I build the confidence students need to become the leaders of their own learning. I love what I do.

My instructional approach is a high-energy commitment to amazing results. As a former reading coach and ELA specialist, I utilize proven, evidence-based methods to bridge literacy gaps, specializing in phonics, comprehension, and evidence-based writing to master state testing. I am a techie who thrives in the digital age. I have served as a schoolwide liaison for ClassDojo and integrate advanced AI tools like Gemini, Claude, and ChatGPT to create personalized lessons. Whether I am leading a classroom or providing one-on-one virtual sessions, my goal is to provide a firm, consistent, and fun environment where academic struggle is transformed into mastery.

In my last 6 years of 100% remote instruction, I have honed the art of online engagement by including my parents’ advice and knowledge of their child, and incorporating my students' own special interests—proving that distant learning is no obstacle to a life-changing educational connection. I specialize in supporting students with ADHD, Autism, and reading hurdles by breaking down complex concepts into manageable, exciting milestones. By combining decades of veteran wisdom with modern technical agility, I provide a tutoring experience that is deeply individualized. I am passionate about helping students using fun gamification and relevant activities—children love me.

ADHD

ADHD

As an educator with over two decades of experience and a Master's Degree in Special Education, I specialize in teaching executive functioning skills to students struggling with ADHD and focus-related challenges, such as task initiation. Having navigated the personal challenges of ADHD throughout my life, I believe I can better understand and serve the significant number of students I encounter with both diagnosed and undiagnosed neurodiversity. I utilize a structured system which incorporates interest inventories, goal contracts, schedules, organization checklists, and strategic time-management breaks. By remaining patient, consistent, and understanding while integrating high-interest lessons and relevant connections to learning, I bridge the gap between academic struggle and focused mastery for students who learn differently.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

My autism expertise is both personal and professional. My knowledge is rooted in my Master’s Degree studies, where I earned a 3.84 GPA and a specialized autism certification. I achieved the highest mastery score on the MTTC Certification Test in the category of ‘Understanding Students with ASD.’ Additionally, my experience began as a child growing up with a savant brother who never received assistance and later raising a daughter with Asperger’s who was often misunderstood. Therefore, I am a fierce advocate for my students. Professionally, one of my greatest achievements was teaching a nonverbal student with autism how to successfully use his AAC device to communicate. I have also mastered early identification in the classroom based on the DSM-5 characteristics, which is crucial to student success. By utilizing evidence-based tools like PECS, parent surveys, social stories, and earned rewards, I am highly effective at helping students succeed using gamification and relevant activities.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

I have enjoyed years of working with students with special needs, and helping students individually is key to mastering executive functioning skills. With my special education degree, my sessions are organized into well-oiled machines that empower students to take the initiative in overcoming struggles with time management and organization. I use specific methods such as interactive checklists, visual timers, and planners to model as they learn to structure their lessons, study habits, and daily routines while building a foundation for long-term academic success. However, my most important strategy is fostering metacognition, allowing students to buy into the importance and realization of why these tools work—because understanding relevance and experiencing success within oneself is the best teacher; yet, I am still in awe watching them remind me or teach others.
