Expert and Enthusiastic Spanish Teacher/ AP Test prep

¡Hola, soy Katie! I am a certified Spanish teacher in the state of Michigan. I have a Bachelors in Secondary Education with a major in Spanish and a minor in English. My Masters degree is in Reading and Language Arts. I also have 30 additional post-grad credits. During my undergraduate, I studied abroad in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico where I lived with a host family and attended La Universidad Internacional.

I have 12+ years of experience working with middle school, high school and university level students. My predominant experience has been with high school students as their high school teacher. However, as many of my students progress to University, they reach out to me for assistance or tutoring while they continue their Spanish learning. As a high school teacher, I have taught levels I-IV. My experience also includes 5 years of experience writing curriculum and designing resources and materials for the county that I work in.

My design and approach is always rooted in fluency-based pedagogy. My goal is to get students understanding and expressing themselves in Spanish as soon as possible. We do this through creative and interactive activities and conversation. As a tutor, I will provide authentic and engaging content to immerse yourself in Spanish as well as interesting and relevant conversation topics.
In my experience as a Spanish IV teacher, I have designed my curriculum to not only improve fluency but begin preparation for the A.P. Spanish test. I am very familiar with the test and would be a fantastic tutor for those preparing to take the A.P. Spanish test in the Spring.
