Hello, my name is Melissa. I have been working in a third and fourth grade split classroom in Northern Michigan. I have gained 9 years of experience working with up to 24 students teaching both third and fourth grade material in all subject areas. I am certified to teach language arts in the middle school (6-8) grade levels.
I love to help students grow and achieve their potential. I enjoy getting to know my students on a personal level and allow their interests to overlap the academics as much as possible. My favorite moment of the day is when something a student is struggling with finally clicks. The proud smile is the high light of teaching. I am patient and encouraging with students and help to guide them to the answers and through their work. I do not believe in just giving students answers because the ability to think critically is a vital skill into adulthood.
