Hi everyone! My name is Jarret, and I’m currently finishing up my Master of Science in Accounting at Grand Valley State University.
I’m excited to say that I’ve also completed all four sections of the CPA exam, and I’ll be starting my career in public accounting this upcoming winter. Getting to this point has definitely taken a lot of hard work, and I know firsthand how challenging accounting school and the CPA process can be.
Because of that, during the time I have left before starting my career, I wanted to find a way to give back to the accounting community. I decided that one of the best ways I could do that is by helping other accounting students.
Throughout my time in college, I’ve learned a lot—not only about accounting, but also about studying effectively, preparing for exams, navigating the CPA process, and figuring out what I want to do with my career. I know how overwhelming accounting can sometimes feel, especially when you're trying to balance classes, recruiting, internships, and eventually the CPA exam.
My goal is to use what I’ve learned to help make that process a little easier for other students. Whether it’s providing advice, sharing resources, talking about my experiences, or simply being someone students can reach out to, I’m hoping I can be useful to those who are following a similar path.
Outside of accounting, I have a few hobbies that I really enjoy. Right now, I’ve been spending a lot of time reading philosophy. I’m currently reading Nietzsche, which has been a pretty interesting experience. I also enjoy watching movies and, most importantly, spending time with my family and friends.
I’m looking forward to connecting with other accounting students, sharing what I’ve learned, and hopefully helping others along their own journey.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little bit about me, and I’m excited to be part of the accounting community!
