As a private tutor, academic mentor, community outreach instructor, university teaching assistant/instructor in mathematics & foreign language, as well as a parent, I have been a practicing student of effective teaching and learning for over 35 years. Post-tutorial and end-of-semester feedback by former students and parents have often included exuberant appreciation for having helped reach their goal of understanding.

A few of my students have distinguished themselves by reaching the top 10 in the state at open mathematics competitions. Many have progressed to pursue further studies (often with scholarships) in demanding technical disciplines at leading institutions including actuarial science at Purdue, aerospace engineering at U of Illinois and computer science at Carnegie Mellon. Many have also been admitted to Brown, Duke, Harvard, MIT and Yale.

I have served as a mentor at the Mathematics & Science Student Center at Cabrillo College and provided academic and career guidance to students aspiring to enter a field of their choice. In my own search for an alternative career as a career changer, I pursued a 2nd graduate degree and had ample opportunities to engage in various career guidance literature and activities at the University of Michigan Career Center. What I took away from my experience can be summarized in a quote which I believe provides an anchor to career selection and pursuit: Where your talents meet the needs of the world, therein lies your vocation.

Victor is an amazing tutor for all levels of learning!! We couldn't be happier with the results! He is the BEST!

Victor is an amazing tutor because he is incredibly patient, very thorough, reliable and SO knowledgable! He helped our son gain confidence in test taking (this was a BIG issue for our son) and helped him achieve a score 22 points higher than he had already received! That is a 68% increase in his score! He kept our son focused and explained anything in a step-by-step format if needed! Our son is a very hands on learner, and needs to "see" how to solve math problems that seem impossible in the beginning. We are very blessed to have come across Victor, and have his information saved, in case we need him for any of our other students! He is WELL worth every penny he earns and honestly, we would have paid more after seeing the results! Victor has basically been the light at the end of a dark tunnel known as calculus for myself. He has gone the lengths of explaining math in a way that is highly relatable to someone not experienced in math whatsoever. He definitely goes the extra mile to make sure the concepts are fully understood, and will notice your weak points and focus on helping you alleviate them. I would have most likely failed the class, but Victor has helped me get a high B on my midterm and an overall A in the class! Couldn't have done it without his expertise! 11/10!
