Hi! My name is Peng, and I am an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Eastern Michigan University with a PhD in Mathematics, specializing in probability and advanced theoretical mathematics. I have over twelve years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students, and I am passionate about helping learners make sense of challenging mathematical ideas. My goal is to make mathematics clear, intuitive, and approachable, while helping students build confidence and develop strong problem-solving skills.
My academic background includes teaching and tutoring introductory probability and statistics, college-level probability theory, differential equations, discrete mathematics and graph theory, real analysis, point-set topology, calculus, linear algebra, trigonometry, and GRE math preparation. As a tutor, I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind the material rather than relying on memorization. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s level and goals, breaking problems down step by step and emphasizing conceptual understanding and effective strategies.
I primarily offer online tutoring, but I am also available for in-person lessons in the Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor area within a short travel radius. My hourly rate is $63 for undergraduate and introductory courses such as calculus, linear algebra, trigonometry, introductory probability and statistics, and GRE math preparation. For advanced courses—including probability theory, differential equations, real analysis, and topology—my rate ranges from $75 to $90 per hour. I look forward to working with students who want to strengthen their mathematical foundation and achieve their academic goals.
