My name is Marissa and I am a Special Education teacher with going on five years of experience. I have tutored kids ages 5-18 and I am proficient and enjoy tutoring in all subjects. I have excellent experience working with kids with learning disabilities -- SLD, Autism, EI, and OHI. I am extremely patient and develop excellent relationships with both my clients and their families. When a child works with me, they will learn a lot, but they will also be excited to see me and (many times) not even want me to leave.
I have extensive experience tutoring kids who do not have learning disabilities as well, but are simply just looking to gain more knowledge in a particular subject. Whether I am tutoring a child and helping them learn the alphabet or I am helping a child solve polynomial equations, I always break everything down into simple basic steps that are easy to follow. I always adhere to the principle of 'meet kids where they are at,' but I will also challenge them in accomplishing their goals, one step at a time. Every child works at a different pace and every lesson will always reflect this fact.
I am currently obtaining my master's and certification in special education and since my school finished in June, I am looking to tutor this summer. Beyond the summer, I tutor after starting after Labor Day and have weekend availability as well.
