Hi, I am an undergraduate at Michigan State University, studying Computer Engineering. I am currently at senior standing, with hopes of graduating early. I am on track to graduate Summa Cum Laude, as I did in high school. I have always had a knack for learning, especially in the maths and computer science departments. While I try to appreciate the teacher and the teachings in my classes, I have found that the two do not always mix for the most pleasurable learning experience. I want to try my best to help students feel more comfortable and confident to face these difficult learning situations. I try to combat this in my tutoring, hoping that as a tutor, I come off as more of a friend than a teacher, which can really help a student feel more confident in their own individual work.
My tutoring has mainly consisted of close-aged colleagues and helping them in college and high school level classes, where I have had similar experiences and can relate with the student. My approach is to never just hand a student the answer, but to hand them an approach to understanding what the problem at hand is, and how to diagnose both it and similar problems, along with tricks to help remembering these techniques. The areas of concentrations in these classes where the students benefited most from my help include math, physics, and computer science. I hold tutoring sessions as a request from these students, and try to schedule them in a timely manner, responding to the students needs as quickly as is necessary.
