I approach tutoring as a translation process between complex technical systems and human intuition. As an Information Scientist with an MS from Penn State and a BS in Computer Science from Michigan Tech, my expertise sits at the intersection of high-level mathematics, engineering, and the social sciences. My additional background in psychology, sociology, and management science allows me to frame technical challenges within a broader human context. Whether we are tackling React development, data science, or the logic of a CI/CD pipeline, my goal is to help you move past rote memorization and toward a first-principles understanding of how logic flows through a system.

My academic journey was driven by a triple focus on Computer Science, Mathematics, and Philosophy. This unique combination allows me to teach not just the "how" of coding, but the underlying logic and phenomenology of information. I bring the perspective of a quantitative expert who maintained a 3.895 GPA while mastering Real Analysis, Regression, and Pattern Recognition. I specialize in helping students who feel "stuck" in traditional documentation by providing visual models that turn abstract concepts into tangible solutions.

My teaching experience began over 15 years ago in the Computer Science Learning Center at Michigan Tech. Since then, I have mentored professional engineers in tech startups and served as a substitute teacher in K-12 classrooms. This range has taught me to adapt my methods for any age or learning style. In addition to my technical work, my published research in human-AI collaboration and affective neuroscience informs my neuro-inclusive approach. I understand that every brain processes data differently, and I prioritize creating a supportive environment where students can explore their own unique "sense-making" process.

I approach neurodivergence not as a deficit, but as a structural challenge in information processing. My own journey as a high-functioning (managed, medicated) AuDHD professional is driven by a fundamental, personal need for Sensemaking—the ability to find clear, actionable structure within high-entropy environments. This drive led me to found an applied science R&D lab where I develop web-app visualizations designed to help others refine complex datasets into intuitive 'Visual Refineries.' I teach my students the same systems-thinking strategies I use to architect software and navigate the world: how to build the cognitive tools and external visualizations necessary to turn overwhelming 'noise' into structured signal. We won't just 'study'; we will build your personal operating system for clarity.
Computer Programming

Computer Programming

With over 25 years of experience in full-stack development and systems architecture, my approach to programming centers on Logical Coherence and Data Integrity. I specialize in translating complex, raw data streams into structured, functional systems—whether that’s through low-level memory management in C++, scripting for real-time visual engines (like TouchDesigner), or building resilient full-stack ecosystems. My programming philosophy is rooted in Cognitive Systems Engineering: I don't just teach syntax; I teach the 'Sensemaking' behind the code. I help developers and designers alike understand how to structure their logic to handle edge cases, optimize runtime performance, and ensure that their technical architecture supports their ultimate visual or functional goals. From data structures and algorithmic efficiency to real-time API integrations, I provide the senior-level insight needed to move a project from a conceptual 'node-map' to a robust, production-ready reality.

I hold a BS in Computer Science from Michigan Technological University and an MS in Information Science from Penn State, maintaining a 3.895 GPA throughout my BS and 3.78 for my MS. With over 15 years of professional experience as a Senior Technical Architect, I specialize in the 'First Principles' of computing. Rather than just teaching syntax, I focus on the structural logic and architectural patterns necessary to build scalable, resilient software. My expertise ranges from low-level systems architecture and memory management to the implementation of complex semantic networks, graph databases (RDF/Neo4j), and recursive algorithms. Whether you are navigating data structures, Big O analysis, or high-level systems design, I provide the 'Visual Refinery' needed to turn complex technical noise into structured, actionable signal.
Data Analysis

Data Analysis

I hold an MS in Information Science from Penn State and have spent over 15 years architecting data systems as a Senior Technical Architect. My approach to data analysis is rooted in Sensemaking—the ability to take high-entropy, disorganized datasets and refine them into clear, actionable insights through visualization and structural logic. My expertise includes everything from the mathematical foundations of Biostatistics to the implementation of modern Graph Databases and Semantic Networks. I specialize in helping students move beyond basic spreadsheet manipulation to a deep understanding of data relationships, pattern recognition, and the 'Visual Refinery' process. Whether you are working with SQL, Python, or complex social datasets, I will help you master the architectural thinking required to derive truth from data.
