Hi there, I’m Becca! I have a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering and have completed coursework towards a graduate degree in Elementary Education. I started my career in civil engineering consulting working in construction and industrial design. During that time, my most meaningful work was volunteering as a coach with Girls on the Run. I have always loved working with kids, and enjoyed mixing my favorite hobby, running, with teaching lessons on self confidence, hard work, and goal setting. I try to incorporate these principles into my work with students to help build confidence, study skills, and a growth mindset while we work toward achieving academic goals.

I worked as a tutor for the University of Michigan Athletic Department while in school, and have been tutoring consistently since 2021. I currently work with students ages seven to nineteen in math (elementary, Algebra I and II, geometry, and trigonometry), English, and science. I have experience working with students of all abilities including students with ADHD and other learning disabilities.

I enjoy having the opportunity to work one-on-one with students and tailor lessons to their exact needs and learning styles. Some of my students use tutoring sessions to keep up with current material and homework. Other students use tutoring to strengthen their foundation in concepts from previous grades, and others are looking for a challenge and working ahead. For these students, I am happy to recommend resources and build lessons or take parent suggestions.

Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to book a session. I look forward to helping your student achieve their academic goals!

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I provide one-on-one algebra instruction to 10+ students per week at a tutoring center in Michigan. I have helped my students improve their grades, get ahead in class, and even test out of math classes. Nothing makes me happier than when a student has a lightbulb moment and says, "Math is actually kind of fun!"
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I work one-on-one with 10+ students in grades 6-8 in Pre-Algebra weekly. I enjoy helping students build a solid math foundation before starting Algebra 1. In addition to foundational math skills, I help students create good habits around setting up problems in an organized and logical way.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I work with students in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 to prepare for the math section of the SAT. I start by having students take a practice test, then analyze the results to develop a plan of study. Each session will focus on a topic and additional practice problems will be provided. When working through practice problems, I offer tips on how to answer questions quickly to manage time on test day.
