As a certified teacher with an MA in elementary education, I look forward to supporting your child’s language arts (reading mechanics and comprehension, writing, spelling, etc.) and/or math goals. For almost three years, I have kept K-8 students engaged and enthusiastic in virtual classrooms and one-on-one virtual sessions. I teach students who require ongoing help with classroom assignments and homework, as well as those who have fallen behind their grade levels in one or more areas. I also teach children who are doing well in school and want to augment their learning experience with exciting enrichment material.
I believe in cultivating strong relationships with students and building their confidence in their ability to grow as learners. Many of my students have had negative experiences that have led to resistance in any arena that seems “educational.” My approach to motivating and encouraging children is to maintain a highly interactive environment in which I employ many tools. In addition to those available through the virtual platform, I delve into my own extensive trove of resources (readings, word and math exercises and games, etc.) to keep kids immersed in our sessions. I am also more than happy to incorporate any materials that you or your child’s classroom teacher wish to bring to the table.
Recently a mother contacted me to say that, after our first session, her daughter shouted “I LOVE MATH!!” after thinking she would always hate it. This is why I am a teacher.
