I'm Matt D., a 37 year old with a passion for statistics, research, writing, and education. I have been tutoring for 8 years now and have had great success with my students, ranging from high school to college and graduate students (Master's and PhD) of all ages.

I began tutoring by helping other students in my graduate-level statistics classes. During my PhD coursework, I worked as a private statistics tutor, while also teaching the introductory sequences in educational research in the School of Education at the University of Michigan. I now teach and work as a statistician for Southern Methodist University, focusing on enrollment modeling. My subjects of expertise range from high school and college-level statistics and probability, writing (especially for those writing theses or dissertations), and I have vast experience with statistical programming in the STATA, SPSS, and SAS statistical software programs. I also teach an introductory sequence of research courses in the social sciences, have served as a dissertation coach/editor for multiple clients across several disciplines, and currently serve on a number of dissertation committees as the lead methodological advisor.

I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging statistics and writing problems. I like to apply statistic/probability/writing to real world situations to allow my students to fully understand the relevance and necessity of knowing and using these subjects in their everyday lives. My goal is to help my students fully understand these principles, so that you won't need me anymore (although I'll always be here for you. :) ).

Please contact me about any questions you may have! I look forward to working with you!

Amazing God-Send!

Matt was an absolute God-Send this semester! I was dreading my stats class and knew I needed help to get me through. Matt's passion for stats allowed him to explain things in ways that my professors couldn't or wouldn't. Not only was Matt affordable and knowledgeable, but he was patient, kind, efficient, and always willing to answer all of my questions about labs and my final project both in and outside of our meetings each week. He truly went above and beyond! 1,000% recommend!

Excellent tutor

He explained everything well. I had a major exam coming up and I felt confident after the session with Matt. He was extremely knowledgeable about stata and we worked through all the problems.

Well prepared and knowledgeable

Matt did a great job overseeing a SPSS project that required mediators and moderators. He made sure that I selected the correct model. We reviewed the results and he followed up with an email of further recommendations to make sure everything met the Rubric.

Excellent

very knowledgeable, and professional. Interest in trying to help understand my problems with state in this case was with propensity score match. I will work with him shortly.

Mastery of subject and excellent teacher

He taught me how statistical models work and various issues that can arise from complex datasets, especially with missing data. He was very knowledgeable about techniques to resolve some issues. I was very grateful for his expertise and patience in walking me through the steps.

Phenomenal teacher

Matt is so thorough and patient. My statistics class had thrown me for a loop, and I was very out of practice. After 1 session I had a better grasp of all concepts and had my math anxiety reduced. Best money I have spent during my graduate education.

Knowledgeable and very patient tutor.

I contacted Matt as I needed help with SPSS and statistical analysis. I am a doctoral student completing the final chapters of my dissertation. Matt is extremely knowledgeable and very patient. He is also very generous with his time and does not mind answering questions between tutoring sessions. I had contacted two other tutors prior to meeting Matt, and I did not get from them the help or quality of instruction I received from Matt. Not only is Matt helping me with the statistical analysis for my study, but he takes the time to explain and helps me to understand, which is extremely important. Thanks to Matt's help, Chapter 4 was approved. Thank you.
