My work experience has comprised of being a Russian language document translator of both general and technical publications, a consecutive interpreter for private and governmental customers, a transcription specialist for military applications, a joint-service Russian Language coordinator and proficiency test writer for all branches of the Armed Services. I've also been an independent consultant in Washington, DC to support private companies working with Russian business partners and Russian language instructor in both formal and informal settings.
From 1988-1992, I worked in Russia as an Arms Control Inspector/Interpreter for senior level military and government personnel to verify Soviet compliance with provisions of the INF Treaty signed by President Ronald Reagan and CPSU Chairman Gorbachev. My business endeavors took me to multiple locations in the Former Soviet Union for thorough familiarization with the culture and the people. In 1996, I worked with former Russian presidential candidate General Alexander Lebed while he was in the United States for contract negotiations with a publishing company in Washington, DC.
I have more recently traveled to Russia in 2001, 2005 and 2010 for visits focused primarily on traditional slavic interest.
