I am an educator, academic coach, and writing specialist with 20+ years of experience helping middle school, high school, and college students strengthen their skills, confidence, and independence. I specialize in English Language Arts (ELA), academic writing, study skills, and college admissions essays.

Education: I hold a Ph.D. in Education from Wayne State University; bachelor's and master's degrees in English Lang & Lit from the University of Michigan; and secondary teaching certification in English and Communication.

Experience: I have taught ELA, writing, literature, and humanities in grades 5–12 and at the college level, in classroom and individualized settings. For approximately 20 years, I have also coached high school students through college application essays, from personal reflection and brainstorming to drafting and revision. My higher education leadership experience in online education and curriculum development gives me additional insight into college-level expectations.

My approach: I tailor instruction to each student's needs, combining clear explanations, guided practice, thoughtful feedback, and practical strategies. In writing, we work on organization, argument, rhetorical choices, vocabulary, grammar, analytical depth, and revision while preserving the student's authentic voice. In reading and literature, I emphasize comprehension, critical thinking, thematic and conflict analysis, and evidence-based interpretation. I also help students plan assignments, strengthen study habits, manage procrastination, and build academic confidence through manageable goals and accountability.

I primarily work with middle and high school students seeking stronger ELA skills, writing and reading analysis, study strategies, or college essay guidance. My goal is not simply to improve one assignment, but to help each student become a more capable, confident, independent learner.
