I hold a Ph.D. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. My academic background has given me extensive training in mathematics, physics, engineering, programming, robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. During graduate school, I conducted research in aerospace engineering and robotics and developed strong experience explaining complex technical concepts, solving quantitative problems, and communicating technical material to students and colleagues with different levels of prior knowledge.
My teaching and mentoring experience has primarily come through graduate-level academic and research environments, where I worked with students and colleagues on technical problems involving engineering, mathematics, programming, and computational methods. My approach is to first understand what the student already knows, identify the specific concept or step causing difficulty, and then break the problem into smaller pieces that can be understood and practiced independently. Rather than simply providing answers, I focus on developing the student's ability to reason through problems themselves. My background as a researcher and engineer also allows me to connect theoretical concepts to practical applications, which can make difficult material easier to understand and retain.
I am particularly well qualified to tutor mathematics, physics, aerospace and mechanical engineering, programming, robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. I am comfortable working with students ranging from middle school through college and advanced technical coursework, and I can adapt my explanations and teaching methods to the student's experience level and learning needs.
