I am a certified elementary teacher with an MA in teaching. I have nearly ten years of successful tutoring experience. My job is to help students get to the next level in a creative and efficient way. I am certified to work with K-8 students in all elementary subjects. Teaching students to read is one of my specialties. I love reading and it shows! I've taught students from 4 to 14 to become proficient readers. I use a combination of the Orton-Gillingham approach (which is phonics), along with a variety of sight word and comprehension activities, to give students the skills they need to master reading.
My other teaching specialties are writing and math. In writing, I have a variety of resources to teach beginning writers, struggling writers, or gifted writers in search of advancement. In math, I use a hands-on and game-based approach to help students build math skills and conceptual understanding.
I enjoy teaching. My attitude is a patient and positive one and I look forward to meeting you and helping your child reach his or her learning goals.
