I hold a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University. I am a nationally accredited writing teacher and have extensive training in evidence-based literacy instruction, including phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and written expression. My academic background also includes strong preparation in elementary mathematics, with an emphasis on number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.

I have over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience working with students in grades 2–8. My experience spans classroom instruction, small-group intervention, and one-on-one tutoring. I have supported students across a wide range of abilities, including those who need foundational skill development, targeted remediation, and academic enrichment.

My instructional approach is structured, explicit, and student-centered. In literacy, I use systematic phonics and language-based instruction paired with reading and writing in connected text to build strong foundations and promote transfer of skills. In mathematics, I focus on conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving strategies rather than rote memorization.

Lessons are individualized based on diagnostic data and ongoing progress monitoring. I intentionally scaffold instruction to build confidence while gradually increasing independence.

I have taught in traditional classroom settings, worked one-on-one with students in private tutoring, and supported learners with diverse academic and social-emotional needs. I have experience working with students who struggle with reading and math, as well as students who benefit from enrichment and advanced skill-building.
