I'm Edward, recently retired after 33 years teaching in the Music Dept. at Saginaw Valley State University. I taught both class room and private, applied lessons (Piano, Organ). I'm Edward, recently retired after 33 years teaching in the Music Dept. at Saginaw Valley State University. I taught both class room and private, applied lessons (Piano, Organ). "Retired", but still desiring to teach because the art of instructing and leading others to a deeper knowledge is at the core of my personality. The prospective student will benefit from my overall 50 years of teaching experience. My grand kids excepted, there is nothing I love and enjoy more than the one-on-one tutorial experience. The roots of this methodology in Western Society reach back to ancient Greece and the dialogue format of Plato. My areas of expertise include Music History, Music Theory, Form and Analysis, Music & Liturgy of the Western Church, teaching listening skills in music of other cultures as well as in music of Western "classical" genres. Locally, I still teach private studio Piano & Organ.

Having worked and studied in Italy (Bologna, Bolzano) for 2 1/2 years, I am fluent in written and spoken Italian. I studied at the Berlitz School in Italy, I did translations (Italian to English), I taught conversational skills to Italian IBM employees assigned
to the USA. My doctoral dissertation involved the translation of a 16th-century Italian method book for organ and harpsi-
chord, fully annotated and lncluding transcription of all the musical compositions. I was invited by the Italian Government to assist on a week-long study tour and inventory of the Artistic and Cultural Heritage of the Apennines.
In addition, I have plenty of writing and editorial experience having published three articles in musicology journals,
and co-authored two books dealing with keyboard pedagogy. I also have a fair reading knowledge of French and German. I played concerts in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. I have been a church musician since my early teens.
Re academic credentials, I hold the following: B.A., The University of Notre Dame; M.Mus. (Organ, Piano), The Univer-
sity of Michigan; Ph. D. (Musicology, Keyboard Pedag
