Hi there! My name is Maxx. My educational background is a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering with a 3.5 GPA and Master of Science in Project Management with a 4.0 GPA. Throughout my time in both educational levels I found having a professor be passionate for what they taught made it easier for me to learn and that is something I carry forward with my own tutoring methods.

I am a visual learner so having things written out in step by step instructions were more helpful than just reading a question out of a book or read what was written in my notes and it is something I carry forward within my own tutoring methods. I have taught the below topics a tutor for 4 years for high school and college students:
Algebra 1, PreAlgebra, Algebra 2, PreCalculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry.

I also have 2 years of experience tutoring in the below subjects for middle school through college students:
C++, C#, Java, Computer Programming, and Computer Science.

While I have not taught Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Linear Algebra, or Elementary Math, I have personal experience with all these subject matters through my own education and on the job experience.

My take on tutoring is to explain topics using someone's passion and coming up with questions around it instead of pulling questions directly from a book. A statement I follow throughout my tutoring is "It is more important to understand the concept then the specific question."

I know I have done a great job as a tutor when the students I assist not only follow what I am explaining, but can also use that knowledge gained on their own through quizzes and exams. I want to assist students with being the best in the topic that are currently struggling with any way I can.

I look forward to hearing from you with help for mathematics or computer related topics.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. However, Algebra 1 is a great starting point to get the basic idea of dropping numeric values and placing in letters instead.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. However, Algebra 2 takes what was founded in Algebra 1, but expands on the idea of understanding how variables can work in various ways.
Business

Business

Overseeing the work of multiple teams on a global scale, I ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and of the highest quality based on the project triangle. I work with customers on a global level for hardware and software purchases, process POs, and deploy deliverables to the customer. Master of Science in Project Management with a 4.0 GPA.
C#

C#

Completing my undergraduate degree in Software Engineering. I have a background knowledge of how to code in C# including how to make simple games like Yahtzee and Tetris.
C++

C++

I spent my entire undergraduate degree using C++ as the foundational programming language. I learned the basic concepts all the way through software methodologies through C++. Just like any other programming language, once you understand one, you can understand them all. The only reliability is the syntax.
Computer Gaming

Computer Gaming

I have spent my free time developing a 3D game using the Unreal Engine through Epic Games. I have also built games using the Unity game engine and linking it up with C# as the backend of the product. I also have years of experience with trouble shooting and play testing games. Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering.
Computer Programming

Computer Programming

Undergraduate degree in Software Engineering, oversee software development products that are coded in C++ and Java. Years of programming in and outside of school. Understands the foundational ideas of development and how to properly interpret code while also challenging those I teach and give step by step explanations on the development process.
Computer Science

Computer Science

Completed my undergraduate degree in Software Engineering and continued the ideology learned in my time at undergrad through my career. While I do not code personally in a career setting, I assist the project teams with how to improve our existing products while also assisting with the brainstorming and development of future products.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

While my career path is not focused in elementary math, math has always been my favorite subject in school. I have taught students in middle school and high school math topics and can teach elementary math just as well. The key is to teach the students in a way that they can relate to; whether that be games, books, music, etc. Finding their passions and being able to translate that to math is a key way in my teaching.
GED

GED

I have math knowledge up to Linear Algebra so I can gladly assist with learning the math portions of the GED. I am also a fluent English speaker and understand grammatical changes/needs in the English language. I would be happy to assist as an additional tool as you prepare for your GED.
Geometry

Geometry

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. However, Geometry is a fun topic because you get to use variables in ways that are different from the topics used in algebra since you are given various formulas to solve equations.
Java

Java

I have spent my free time developing a 3D game using the Unreal Engine through Epic Games. I have also built games using the Unity game engine and linking it up with C# as the backend of the product. I also have years of experience with trouble shooting and play testing games.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. Linear Algebra is fun because it is the idea of infinite spaces and being able to visualize an idea that there are infinite dimensions. You need to come into this program with an open mind, but step by step, you will be able to understand the theorems and definitions of the matrix.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

I have been using Microsoft Excel to run the following options: Create pivot tables to properly display data given 1000s of data from an external program/database. Use VBA to build automation features in excel that will make it more user friendly for consistent data updates. Generate various reports that are transferable to other external applications.
Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook

I use Microsoft Outlook on a daily basis with my work. We use it for responding to emails, providing attachments to said emails. Create out of office notifications while I am on vacation.
Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint

I use ppt on a daily basis for various project presentations. I also use this product in my free time with hosting trivia shows and creating presentations at panels for conventions that I attend.
Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project

I use Microsoft Project on a daily basis within my company to fully detail a project timeline with the following features: milestones, epics, features, and broken down into individual tasks. These tasks are assigned to pre-defined resources and costs based on internal costs. This also helps to show the potential overall cost in a project that can be updated on the fly. This all also uses links to impact following tasks/features.
Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows

I have used Microsoft Windows for as long as I can remember, in both personal and professional usage. Let me help you learn and understand what is needed for your own Microsoft Windows problems! I have done the basics of opening task manager to the more advance of using a command line to run applications and everything in between.
Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word

I use Microsoft Word daily in my work as a Program Manager. Editing various documents that are sent to customers while following pre-defined formats from the company's specifics. I create comments in docs, link various sections, define headers, sub-headers, etc. I have also created VBA methods to automatize certain features to have it be automatically done.
Physics

Physics

Being a huge lover of math throughout my entire education, I find physics to be a very enjoyable science. It is a science that we can actually calculate and see actual outcomes from! While physics is complex to understand at face value, my teaching involves writing out everything that we know and what we want to know. From there, it is as simple as "plug and chug" based on story problems.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. However, Pre Algebra is a great starting point to get the basic idea of dropping numeric values and placing in letters instead.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. However, pre calculus helps build the foundational ideas that would be seen more so in calculus and I am very excited to help the individuals who wish to learn more about it.
Probability

Probability

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. However, probability is an interesting math topic since we rely more so on odds or chances instead of looking at a finite, or infinite, list of options that we see in calculus. Most instances of probability is learning formulas, but also knowing when to use them.
Project Management

Project Management

I have my master's degree in project management where I learned the ideas of scope management, risk management, mitigation and contingency plans. Also, how to recognize various stakeholders both internal and external based on their needs and how they can impact a project. Project Management is a lot of being the middle person with multiple contacts which may sound difficult, but I'd be happy to help out whoever would want to learn these ideas or even expand on their own knowledge base.
Statistics

Statistics

Taking a Engineering Stats course in college made me learn that stats is not a class that should be focused on memorization, but looking for keywords and know what formulas to use. There was a theory that my professor presented to us and I think it is true in a class like this, you can have all the time in the world but if you don't understand the concept then there is no point in giving a student 1 hour or 20 minutes (yes my exams were 20 minutes long). I want to help tutor those in stats the concepts and keywords and guide them to find the answers themselves.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Math has always been a strong suit of mine throughout my entire education. My mathematics goes up to Linear Algebra, which may sound scary and believe me, it is not. However, Trigonometry focuses more on angles and radians using sin, cos, tan, cot, csc, and sec. These are all easy to remember with what they represent, but I know the theorems are where the most difficult lie in. I can help overcome any issues in this topic for any students who are willing to learn it.

Prepared and knowledgeable tutor

Maxx helped me with graduate level probability, from the start it was obvious that he was incredibly knowledgeable about the topic. He came very prepared to our session, and explained things in such a way that I was able to understand them and apply them on my own. Our session went so well that I reached out several weeks later regarding a different topic. Maxx is also very responsive and accommodating, I cannot recommend him enough.
