I have been teaching AP Language, AP Literature, and Public Speaking for 25 years, and I have been an AP Reader for 17 years, scoring AP Language, AP Literature, and AP Seminar Exam Essays. I have been teaching AP Language, AP Literature, and Public Speaking for 25 years, and I have been an AP Reader for 17 years, scoring AP Language, AP Literature, and AP Seminar Exam Essays. Throughout my career I have received several awards, including the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) Teacher and the Superintendent’s Award of Excellence. I have also served as an Instructional Coach, AP English Professional Learning Team Lead, Professional Development Facilitator, Strategic Planning Facilitator, Curriculum Writer, Mentor Teacher, and Teacher Consultant. I have a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature.

I have a passion for empowering students to communicate powerfully as they craft compelling, memorable pieces that captivate audiences, and I work with students on building effective communication skills that build confidence and foster a sense of purpose. I primarily teach AP English Language, AP English Literature, and Public Speaking, but I also have extensive experience working with students on writing College Essays and Personal Statements. I equip students with close reading skills that prepare them to develop insightful interpretations on a wide variety of texts including nonfiction, novels, plays, poems, and short stories, and I support students in creating engaging presentations and developing dynamic public speaking skills.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in English Language in Literature, and I am a certified high school English teacher. In my 25 years of teaching AP English and Essay Writing, I have worked extensively with students on writing College Application Essays and Personal Statements for undergraduate and graduate school, including medical school, law school, and doctoral programs. I work with students on writing a compelling personal statement that connects with admissions officers. My approach focuses on your passion for the field, highlights your unique character traits, and uses storytelling techniques to create a dynamic piece that convinces the admissions committee you are the ideal candidate for their program.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Communication, I have been teaching Public Speaking for 25 years, and I regularly engage in public speaking in a wide variety of settings, both online and in person, including giving formal speeches and facilitating learning groups. As you deal with significant ideas, you will improve your ability to organize, research, write, reason, and think critically.
