Hi!

I'm Sandy, and I'd love to talk with you about educational needs. I am a special education teacher with more than twenty years of tutoring experience, helping students who are in danger of "falling through the cracks." I specialize in assisting with literacy and writing development, but can assist elementary and middle school level students with all subjects, high school students with basic math and all language arts, social studies, test prep and study skills, and adults with remedial college classes as well as basic literacy and math skills. Sorry, but I cannot help much with math past Algebra I or high school level science classes. I CAN assist students with special needs, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Delays, auditory processing problems and other difficulties.

I have been tutoring for more than twenty years, and have had 7 years of classroom experience. I have been tutoring online for more than ten years, as well. I can set up online meetings via chat systems or devise asynchronous experiences (via email or other tools). Local students generally come to my home for lessons at our mutual convenience, since I have access to all of my materials and resources here. Visits to your home or a public site can be arranged, but will entail an additional fee for travel. I am located near Edwardsburg, Michigan and just north of Granger, IN.

My philosophy pulls deeply from my special education training. I believe that all people can learn, and it's my job to find the best methods to make that happen. I also believe that learning is a comprehensive experience, and I will assist parents, family members, teachers, and mentors as needed to apply the strategies I discover that work for a given student. I use a wide array of evaluation tools to ascertain a student's present level of functioning in areas of concern, set goals with the student and family members, then devise an individualized program to remediate or strengthen necessary skills to meet those goals. I also offer assistance with school ass

Great tutor!

She is patient and works with me in a way that other teachers have not been able to. I am comfortable with her and I usually am not with many teachers in my past. I would recommend her.

Very patient.

Great personality, patient and kind. Seems knowledgeable with solid grasp of ESL teaching techniques. Sandy is prompt and flexible in her scheduling. She has kept me informed, as the student's manager, of what has been accomplished and what the plan is moving forward.
