Hello! I'm Chris, and I graduated magna cum laude from Catholic University in Washington, DC with a degree in Drama and a minor in vocal music. I had many teachers and professors along the way. I discovered that the ones I remember are the teachers who cared deeply enough about me to both make the subject lively, while also calling me to improve myself as a human and a student. From a young age, I fell in love with music. Much to their dismay, I begged for piano lessons from my parents, who finally relented. I sang from a very young age, and have never stopped.
As a teacher, I have 6 years experience teaching high school choir. I work hard to balance the enjoyment of learning a new song with learning music theory and sight-singing. I tell my students that I want our class to be an oasis for them, where they get to enjoy something they love to do, while growing as a person and a skilled musician at the same time.
I am constantly proud of both their performances, as well as their growing ability to learn how to read and sing music.
I also currently direct the music at a church in Monroe, Michigan, and have 9 years experience doing this--including playing piano, organ, and directing the choir, among other duties.
