Hello, my name is Sarah! I am a recent University of Michigan alumna with degrees in Communications and Environmental Studies. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa, an honor reserved for just 1% of undergraduate students. When applying to colleges myself, I received a $50,000 scholarship from Oberlin based primarily on my essay. During my time at Michigan, I also developed a familiarity with its admissions process and application writing, much of which translates to other institutions.
Throughout college, I authored more than 70 literature reviews on environmental socio-governance topics, served as a line-by-line Poetry Editor for a literary magazine (much harder than it sounds!), and mentored first-year students as they navigated the academic transition to university. During and after college, I spent two years in corporate communications, where writing, editing, voice, and structure were central to my role. I ghostwrote for C-suite executives, developed award-winning submissions for national solar developers, and wrote bylined articles for major renewable energy trade publications. Over the past year, I have also provided one-on-one guidance to college applicants on essay brainstorming and structure, and I have found the work deeply gratifying.
I believe every student has a unique perspective to bring to their application. I help students find what is already interesting about them—the lucid dreams, the childhood stuffed animal they still can't part with, their favorite soda flavor—and turn those details into a compelling narrative.
My approach is collaborative and question-driven. Rather than writing for a student, I help them identify meaningful experiences, develop their ideas, clarify what they want to communicate, and revise for stronger storytelling, specificity, clarity, and voice. I work with high school and college-bound students on personal statements, supplemental essays, brainstorming, and developmental or line-level editing.
Let's find the idea that sets you on fire, and write that essay!
